I resisted for years, but slowly started buying the stuff to get me on the ice a few years ago. Bought a graph and lures from IDO classifieds, picked up a few rods here and there, got some advice and trips from people here. I finally pulled the trigger on a Eskimo hub on IDO last week, picked up a big buddy and used auger this weekend and hit the ice on sunday with all my own stuff.

Beautiful, snowy day on Waconia, lots of sunnies and a few crappie. My gal had never been out before and was laser focused on the Hummingbird Ice 55 had a great time too.

Now, where should I go next??? Busy week, hoping to get out on the holiday on Monday.

Nothing beats the feeling of being totally self reliant! Way to go!

X2 on that. Ice fishing can be a heck of a chore. But when you are self sufficient and can produce fish and keep the lady friend entertained, it turns in to a great feeling

Judging from the snow we have plus what is supposed to fall tonight, somewhere with a plowed road!

One question: Are you using lead or tungsten?

    Dave,
LOTW! It is a ice fishing Mecca.

BTW – You definitely need a tall flag pole and a strobe light if you want to catch fish threw the ice.

Lead. Fish respond to that slow drop.

We used to slay the crappie on Cedar Lake, know anything about that?

Well, not yet! I dont think I have been down there for 20-25 yrs, but there was always a good spring bite. Im sure ice fishing would be solid too

Haven’t been out there in a couple years but off the sunkin road before 9:00 am we would get our limit in 20 minutes, along with a couple small eyes.
    MONSTER muskies in that lake!
