Today and tomorrow they have VX-1’s on sale for $219 at fleet farm. I told my buddy to buy one, cause i always take him ice fishing and he doesn’t have a flasher and I have an LX-5 so its not too fair. Didn’t realize it was the older 600Watt model though, so is it worth it for that kind of money? Or is there a better deal somewhere else? Only thing I dont really like is that the only transducer cone angle you can get is a 20 degree. I think I would rather have a 12 degree like the vexilar come with. They are still asking $319 even on sale price for FL-18’s though, and these two units seem basically the same to me.

No its a very good deal, I’d take over the vex any for the same price.

Really a 20 cone is the most flexible, unless you fish a lot of really deep water (50’+)

    Watts don’t matter….

Well on there website they have the newer VX-1 pro model listed for $219 as well, but the weekend flyer said it was the 600 watt model they had on sale. I’ll have to get a hold of him tomorrow and find out which one he actually got. I know the VX-1 pro model has 1000 watt and comes with a soft case.

    Red,

I could be wg, but I remember paying about $169.00 for my VX-1 abot two seasons ago. It doesn’t sound like a good deal, especially if it is not the new 1000W version.

    Red:

You hit the nail on the head. The Marcum VX-1 was originally designed and produced as an entry level unit that would compete and outperform the Vexilar flagship model – FL-18. Compare the features. At only 400 watts of power, the older VX-1 still outperforms.

The VX-1 Pro added more power and a softpack to widen that margin even further.

I’ve steered buddies towards that deal this weekend as well. This is the PERFECT unit for your buddy that swears he doesn’t need a flasher because they’re too expensive, but always ends up using yours every fishing trip.

When looking at the features he just purchased. Its an AMAZING deal!!

Lets go back to the time before the VX1 or even before the LX-1.

You would have had to spend $350 dollars to get a an old Fl-8 with no interference rejection or bottom lock and that less-than-par receiver resolution.

Today, your friend took his hard earned $219; bought a product that American ingenuity has made best; and after that ingenuity made it best, all of it was manufactured here too.

Your friend can hang his hat on that decision
