I’ve been tring to make up my mind of what type of ice fishing bib that I wanted to Buy. I went to Gander because I knew they had the Artic wear. I was suprised to find out that they now carry the Snosuit brand as well. I’m still not sure what way to go. I really really liked the Snosuit but at $300.00 for just the Bibs its hard to pull the string. The Artic wear at $349.00 for the full set was much nicer than I thought it would be. I know there are many fans of the Snosuit on here but why so expensive. At $250.00 more for the full set is it really worth the extra money

I’ve never worn one, but for me, that is a rediculous amount of money. I’ve fished in crazy cold temperatures (-30)and crappy wet soppy slush and didn’t need a $500.00 + piece of clothing to go ice some crappies. I’d rather put the money into a portable ice shanty and a quality auger and rods. Just my $.02.
November 23, 2009 at 1:24 am #817702On the ice I wear North Face jackets and bibs. Many of their items are for extreme weather yet isnt bulky. The North Face is on the spendy side but has superior quality with a lifetime warranty. I have worn Ice Armour and other ice suits and I think that North Face is second to none in most cases.
November 23, 2009 at 2:17 am #817723I use the Vexilar cold snp suit AND it serves my needs well. It serves my needs well and keeps me very warm. The price was right too. Got it last year on clearance at Fleet Farm for under $150.00 for the bibs and jacket.
November 23, 2009 at 2:59 am #81773785 dollars for a pair of carhart bibs. Layered tops with jacket and i survived with ease the ND winter. All the other things you could buy for the extra 300 dollars for that suit…..priceless!
November 23, 2009 at 3:49 am #817743Maybe you need to look at how you are planning on using the suit. Do you spend a lot of time out doors in the cold or are you just looking for something that will keep you warm until the fish house is set up? For me spending 8 hrs or more on the ice or in the boat in the middle of winter is normal and the Snosuit is worth every penny. Why does it cost so much? Im not sure.
Now that it is at Gander can you try it on a cold weekend this winter and just return it if its not what you are looking for? Heck throw them both on the card and return the one that you dont like.

Great advice. And to be honest at $350 – $500 these cold weather suits come in at a price point where “try it before you buy it” seems plenty reasonable to me. I know I’ve loaned out my Snosuit to multiple guide wear and carhart owners so they could get a feel for what they’re getting for the money. So far every one of those that have tried a snosuit have bought a snosuit. So maybe that tells you something.
I’ll need to check with Dean @ Everts to see if this is still the case but last year Dean had a snosuit or two on hand for this very purpose. If you frequent pool 4 that would be a great option. Hit Dean up for a loaner on a cold day and put it through the paces.
I’ll forward this thread on to him to see if he can let us know if this is something he is or plans on doing again this year. Once it gets cold that is.

I was just coming back to this post to say the very same thing!
Yes he does.
November 23, 2009 at 2:32 pm #817830Yes,we do offer a demo for the sno-suit.
As far as sno-suit entering in the price point wars of other viable brands,I doubt that we will see that. There are numerous price point products in the market already, and to my understanding, that was never the goal for this product.
I wouldnt expect anyone to understand or appreciate this products value unless you are cold blooded and are challenged to stay warm when others have their coats open or perhaps not even wearing their coat. Those folks, have absolutely no need for a sno-suit.For those of us who are always cold,it might merit your consideration and or demo.
November 24, 2009 at 8:03 pm #818176I’ve had this conversation a few times already with people pondering what to buy for cold gear.
The SnoSuit is not for everyone. If the most you see of the outside is a 20 minute ride or walk until you get cozy in your portable, then the SnoSuit is definately not worth your money. It is not made for being inside any shelter ever.
But if cold has kept you inside, then this will more than likely get you out
I’m only in a shack if the bite is furious
No matter what the temperature is I wear no more than jeans and sweatshirt with a pair of wool socks. The suit keeps your core warm enough to keep your head, hands, and feet warmer.
There really is nothing like it. I’m so sure that you’ll enjoy it that, If you buy a large in black grey or red, and you don’t like it, get ahold of me and I’ll buy it for a little less than what you paid for it.This is just one of those things that I cannot praise enough. If there was one thing that I couldn’t live without while fishing, It would be the SnoSuit.
Out of the 4 people I’ve loaned mine to, only one has not purchased his own just because he really couldn’t afford it. The last guy was Mr. Bob Bowman the Muskie Slayer. Borrowed mine to go chase muskies up north, and a week later he had his own.
I know I couldn’t get my significant other out in the cold without her’s.
