    IN YOUR FLASHER

I last charged the batteries for my Marcum the first week of June. And I am going to charge them tomorrow. This time I am going to wire the batteries together so that I can charge them all at once.

If anyone sees any Blu-Lube anyplace please let me know where. The only place I have found it was online and I didn’t trust the site enough to give them a credit card number. The stuff just is not sold down here that I can find.

From what I can tell it is no longer made and is sold out most everywhere.

Also have read some icefishing forums that said they use this in replacement

So, maybe just check your local bike shops

My batteries have been on a 1.5 amp automatic battery tender since last ice outting

My battery is charged and drained in the boat Saturday
I love the high speed transducer for the LX-5 on my boat at times

You are correct Jeff I sent an email to HT ENTERPRISES Monday seeking a source for some Blu-Lube and receive a response from them this afternoon. National Sports Supply is who they referred; I talked to Dan and was told it is discontinued. But he did have 3 bottles, needless to say I bought all three.

I also asked him if they received enough requests did he think they would possibly restock it. And he said they probably would and went on to say that they buy the lube in 50 gallon drums.

A 50 gallon drum would make 3200 two ounce bottles. That is a lot of bottles but if I could buy a quart at a more reasonable price, well I would like that more. And if 199 other people thought the same thing then a 50 gallon drum would be sold.

    Anybody interested???

stupid question…. when i hook mine up it just says 100% anyway, so is there any point to hooking it up at all? Is it getting any charge, or does it completely quit when it reads 100%…. LX-5. Whats the lube for?

I do it monthly if they need it or not. I do however check the voltage with a multi-meter before and after I charge.

The lx-5 charging system has a “smart” charge. When the charger is plugged into outlet, it will charge your battery to about 99% and then maintain your battery level at 99-100% while is still plugged into the outlet, reason it has a slight draw against the battery is because of the digital display.
IF you fail to charge the battery during the summer and the digital readout is still hooked up eventually it will drain your battery dead. That will cause your battery to loose some of its life. Its always recommendable to charge the LX5 after each use to increase the life of the battery. The life of the battery seems to be extended with proper charging, vs allowing that battery to run completly dead each time before a new charge is added. If this is your habit you will find yourself replacing your battery every other season if not every season.

I never leave the battery percentage display hooked up, so when i do connect the wires to the battery it always reads 100%. So my question was is there any point to trying to charge the battery if it reads 100% still? Everyone always says make sure you charge during the summer, but is hooking a battery up to the charger that already reads 100% going to do any good for it? I always charge the batterys on my marcum and vex after every use, seems to have helped the life of our vexilar battery which is 5 years old soon I believe.

Blu Lube is used on ice fishing reels and for reconditioning tip ups.
I prefer the Hot Sauce for my ice fishing reels.

    Thanks Bret for the info.

On another note, Cabelas is having a sale on their brand of under water camera’s(which is made by Marcum i believe). There is one selling for 79.99 and another for 149.99. I had 2 guys from work order one of each yesterday. We are getting pretty anxious to get on the hard water.
