got out today for a little morning fishing. with the cold weather i thought i would hit a very good early ice spot. the spot is fairly deep for me at 10′. crept out very slowly checking every couple of steps. drilled the first hole finding 3 inches of good ice. dropped the lx-5 down and found the bottom 2′ lit up. had a very good day to say the least. ended up with 15 crappies 8 gills and 2 perch. i kept those fish so i can donate them to the local elks lodge annual cerebral palsy fish fry. my youngest daughter suffers from a mild form of cp so im trying to help. hot bait was a purple 4mm fiskas tipped with leafworms. they wouldnt touch waxies or spikes. biggest crappies were 13″ mostly white crappies. all the big crappies cpr’d. sorry no pics next time. dan

Good to hear a report from down here! So the ice, was it less than you expected to find??

Leaf worms, eh? Who would’ve thunk it
