How many big fish (over 10lbs) do you think you’ve speared over the 30 years that don’t get to be caught again or reproduce? That’s the only thing I have against it. If your going to spear…go after the smaller ones. There are some lakes that actually need to be cleansed of those more abundant smaller pike. My two cents.
