Open-water winter ‘eyes on plastic

Episode 715

Dragging big, soft-plastic baits that impart a lot of action when retrieved slowly will yield dozens of late-winter, open-water, river walleyes. While demonstrating productive rigging and trolling tactics on the Mississippi River Pool 4 near Red Wing, Minnesota, James Holst and Eric Rehberg tap into an incredible population of walleyes that’s already in place by late winter, well in advance of the spring spawn. Filmed in late February, 2013, less than a week before it aired on Fox Sports North.
