The Walleye fishing here on the Bay of Green Bay is getting better with more consistent action happening daily. We have finally got in to a stretch of more stable warmer weather which has greatly helped fishing along with warming the water temps up which are still not as warm as they could be this time of year.

We have been continuing to find our best success trolling crankbaits behind planerboards. We have been fishing walleyes that are both relating to small under water humps along with also finding good numbers of fish that are suspended over mid lake basin areas. The key to our success when fishing open water suspended fish has been finding exactly where the fish are in the water column one day they are deeper in the water the next day they will come up higher to the surface.

Our best baits over the past week have been Storm Smash Shads along with #9 Rapala Tail Dancers the smaller profile baits have been the best but we are having success also trolling #12 Rapala Husky Jerks. Each day we try a little of everything until we start to put a pattern together one day it is a certain color at a certain depth the next day it seems it is just about a certain depth and color does not seem to be as important.

On days when we have wind blowing we have had better action fishing the tops of reefs in shallow water but the fish have been on the smaller side with a few larger size fish being present but most fish being in the 16 to 22 inch range. This bite for us has really only been good if we have the wind blowing in there. Have fun be safe and good luck fishing.
