Fishing Door County

Well even though the past week of weather has not felt like fall type weather it is the fall season with cooler weather temps coming soon. We will soon be presented with much colder weather so it is time to take advantage of the fantastic fall fishing opportunities that are there for all of us here in the mid west region.

Here on the Bay of Green Bay I will be focusing on the fantastic fishing that we have for both Walleye and Smallmouth Bass. We will continue to fish for these fish well into the month of November using presentations both trolling and casting for Walleyes and a hands on approach for the Smallmouth Bass consisting mainly casting baits such as the Rapala Rippin Rap along with using live bait rigs with chubs or Succer minnows.

This time of year we will find most of the Bass holding in areas that consist of water depths from 20 to 30 feet of water. As the water temps continue to cool we will see more and more fish showing up in areas close to where they will winter over and really begin to prepare for the winter season.

The fishing will continue to go strong here in the Door County area through out the entire month of October and then I will begin to fish the Little Bay De Noc area through the month of November fishing for great numbers of trophy Walleye until freeze up which I hope is later than last year but will usually have great opportunities until early December before it is time to call it an end to the open water fishing season.
