Lately we have had some pretty cold days and nights and on most lakes we have plenty of ice on them. My buddy and I set out on the lake to one of blue gills spots monday to see if they were there . When we started drilling holes it was hard to find a hole that was not filled with weeds to the bottom of the ice. Drilled several holes before I found an area the was half way clear to fish.
I set up the clam and turned on the heater to take the chill off, only 10 degrees out today and a snow storm is coming in tonight. Fishing should be good with the falling pressure. Got down the hole with a mamooska tipped with plastic tail and one with a wax worm.
I saw some weeds move down the hole and here come the first gill out of the hole. A nice one to boot and some more fish were showing up. No need for electronics here , we are in only 2 feet of water and site seeing is a blast to watch them come in and hit the bait.
Overall a nice afternoon out with my buddy Roger, got a meal for supper and had some great conversation with a great freind out on the ice.
