Anybody ready to wrap up winter over here? I sure am! Now just because I’m ready for spring, doesn’t mean the IDO community is ready to give up on ice fishing, just ice fishing in below zero temperatures! We’ve got some great content in store for the March Magazine! From Turkeys to big walleyes we have it covered!
I’m personally looking forward to heading out on the open plains of South Dakota and Nebraska chasing after longbeards with my new Mathews NoCam! I was able to head out last spring for a combo Nebraska/South Dakota turkey hunt with Joel Nelson and it was one for the ages.
Joel has a great article “Westward for Spring Gobblers“, detailing why you need to get out on the plains chasing Merriams this spring! Unfortunately for you, he forgot to describe where he pimped me out of a nice pearly white Merriams. The long and short: Joel had just shot a bird, leaving me up to bat. The turkey was strutting his stuff 20 yards in front of me, and he had to take two more steps to the left and I was going to let it fly. Right as I honed in on the bird, it crumpled right in front of my eyes with a big boom coming from my right. He might try to tell you a different story but I wouldn’t believe him!
James Holst is spilling the beans on “Beating Your Personal Best Walleye“, and you’ll want to mark the calendar this spring! He goes In-Depth on timing, presentations and even specific locations!
I know you are all chomping at the bit to get the boat out of storage and on the open water, but before you do, check out Skeeter Boat Center’s Yamaha Master technician Bryan Myers’ article on “Prepping you Outboard for Open Water“. A few simple checks could save you a lot of money and a headache on the water.
In-Depth Outdoors Prostaff and Waterfowl nut Quintin Biermann shares a few quick tips on “DIY Snow Goose Tips“. If you’ve ever wanted to head out west and chase these white birds, check out this article, get in the car and make sure you have plenty of ammo!
There has also been some pretty incredible technology advances in the last year when it comes to turkey hunting loads, and I’m going to share with you ways you can get the most performance out of your turkey gun in “Pinpointing your Pattern“.
As the temperatures climb IDO TV will be transitioning into open water and year after year we seem to get into some awesome new bites. Trust me, spring 2015 will be no different!
