Letter from the Editor — This month’s magazine is the second issue for us here at In-Depth Outdoors and based on the number of “reads” of the articles in the first issue over the last month we’re headed in a very good direction. One of our feature stories last month “Muskie on the Fly” piled up nearly 20,000 reads while the accompanying video has been viewed over 10,000 times during the same period. We’re new at this whole magazine thing but those numbers look pretty darn good to us!
Our goal for our August issue was to branch into a broader range of species and incorporate articles submitted by our members. We’ve long been of the opinion that In-Depth Outdoors’ members are some of the most knowledgeable anglers and hunters you’re likely to ever meet. While we enjoy sharing our insights through our writings when we came up with the idea of an online magazine we hoped that our members would contribute articles as well so we could tap into what is an almost limitless knowledge base. That hope has been realized with the inclusion of two articles in our August issue. We have a “Green Guys on the Fly” article from long-time member Steve “Roostski” Root and a very detailed look at small boat salmon fishing on the Great Lakes from Joel “Boog” Ballweg called “Lake Michigan Salmon Seasonal Guide.”
This month we’ve made the logical seasonal transition by penning several hunting articles. If you’re excited for the upcoming hunting season you’ll want to check out our articles that offer tips for the early season goose hunter and the bow hunter prepping for the season as well.
Next month in our September issue we’ll be offering tips on how to approach late summer walleye as well as an ever-increasing number of articles for the deer hunter as the deer season approaches.
