BOOM….BANG…POW…the Walleye bite on Lake of the Woods is as hot as the fireworks on the 4th of July!!!!
It feels like the 4th of July weekend in more ways than one…The excitement is in the air…and in the lake!
This past week the May Flies, or better known as “Fish Flies”, hatched. We are seeing that the fish are full of them and you know what that means…TREMENDOUS FISHING!!!!
Overall, fishing has been great! We are seeing the best luck in shallow water anywhere from 8-15 feet.
The bite has continued to be most successful drifting and pulling spinners over the rock rubble near Garden Island. Lure of choice is a gold spinner with leeches or crawlers.
We, and when I say “we” I mean Joe from Dyersville, IA pulled in the largest walleye of the season from a Ballard’s guide boat. The last day of June we saw this beautiful 31.25” walleye on Capt. Andy’s boat…check it out!!
We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!
Until next time…SET THE HOOK!!!
What colors pattern on the spinners in late July
Nice fish! I was actually born and raised in Dyersville, Ia. I’m going to have to tell Joe I seen him on IDO. Neat.
