Pool 5A back water multi-species

Well after a few weeks of not being able to put a plan together today was the day for a road trip to Pool 5A for some backwater tip-up/jigging multi-species action. Wow say that 3 times fast. I met up with the Pearson clan (Mike Dan and Dannielle)at 730 am and we were off to the ice. It was a bit of an IDO hunting GTG for a fishing trip. There we met up with a couple of Mike and Dan’s buddies Dave and . Dan was on the auger while Danielle followed with the scoop and Mike and I set some tip-ups.

Well after getting all our tip-ups set we scattered and tried to jig up some panfish. It was at this point I found my LX3 had been left on which would equal a dead battery no big deal if I had purchased my back up battery like I had planned. My thought was man this is going to be a long day without a flasher as anyone who knows once you fish with a flasher you are lost without it.

Well Dan was feeling a little sorry for me and lent me his "brand X" flasher (not pictured). While it helped me catch some small perch. It quickly became obvious that Dan didn’t need it as he caught quite a few fish without it. I am not about to make any excuses but he did work a little harder at it too as I was just enjoying hanging out with everyone and forgot how fun tip-up fishing can be.

Well we had to wrap up a beautiful day on the ice because Danielle had to go to work. I believe we ended up with 6 flags (5 pike) and 1 bass a few bluegills and a few perch for our efforts. It ended up to be a fun day on the ice with some good friends with more bs’ing than actual fishing but everyone needs a few outings like that .

Oh and to the guy whose beagle ate some of our venison sticks out of our sled I hope he got the squirts in your truck on the way home.

Thanks again guys I had a blast.Don’t pack up your gear yet "iceheads" still quite a bit of hard water fishing left

  2. Thanks for coming along Pat. Although the fishing was slow, there was enough sarcasm to fill the void! By the way, that’s a nice pike your holding there…how did he fight?
