Been working alot lately so getting out has been tough for me. Decided tonight after closing the doors down that I was going to get out for a little while before going home. So ony my way home I struck out for a new body of water in hopes of getting a few crappies or gills for dinner.
So grabbed the LX-5, my power noodle and the strikemaster and struck out for a walk.
Started off a small point and punched holes in 9, 11, 13, 15 feet of water and found a school stacked in 11 feet of water.
Threw down a cut down jig and a super finesse plastic in glow red. Bam, bam, bam…crappies, crappies, crappies…Lots of them. Plucked a few for dinner got a bunch more c n r’d and called it a night.
Really only fished from 4 pm til a bit after dark. Came home, cleaned em up, and put em on the plate with some tater tots, salad, tartar sauce and life was good!
Fun little body of water, gets plenty of pressure by a lot of people but when its only ten minutes from home I will take it! Lot of crappies in that 7 to 9 inch range with a few that might go 10 inches. All the while still a lot of fun on the Powernoodle/fly reel.
Made for a nice night after a long week at work and an even longer week coming up getting ready for not one but two sportshows.
Pictures didnt turn out real great, A) my fingers were frozen and B) I got a brand new camera for christmas and I havent figured out all the settings yet…
not bad for a couple hrs of fishing. good report!!!
Nice report, keep up the good work!
Nice fish Chris.
Were you by chance using any of those new glow plastics to ice those crappie? Just curious how well they work.
Nice fish Chris. Im still amazed at the fish you guys find around the north metro. I caught a 6″ crappie on a local lake a few weeks ago and was excited.
Nice crappies Chris
Yes sir. I just didnt want to name them with CJS being a sponsor here. I touched over 35 fish and went through two plastics…
Excellent stuff Chris, few things are more enjoyable than a quick Crappie bite. Did some of that myself this weekend, forgot how much fun it is to simply plop down and bring a few crappies topside.
Joel
nice job
Way to go Chris, looks like you had a good time
Sometimes those last minute trips can be the most enjoyable. Nice job Chris!
Great Work Chris
