Come On Sleds and Wheelers, LOW is Ready for YOU!

Today we will have snow showers tapering to some flurries this afternoon, high 18F with winds NW at 5 to 10 mph…there will be a 30% chance of snow. Tonight should be cloudy, low 7F with winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow should be mostly cloudy with snow flurries possible in the afternoon, high around 15F with winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow night should be mainly cloudy, low 3F with winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Monday we should have clouds giving way to sun, highs in the low teens and lows 2 to -2F. Tuesday we should see considerable cloudiness, highs in the upper teens and lows in the low single digits. Wednesday we should see considerable cloudiness, highs in the low teens and lows in the low single digits.

As of this morning Al with Morris Point is allowing snowmobiles and 4-wheelers ONLY off of Morris Point’s Ice Road. The same goes for Adrian’s Ice Road (snowmobiles and 4-wheelers only), which is right in front of the Wigwam. NO WHEEL HOUSES quite yet, there was an eager beaver yesterday that tried to press his luck and put his wheel house right in the drink in Four Mile Bay…when will people learn! I know everyone is in a hurry to beat up on the fish, but keep your pants on and we’ll get there very soon…safety first always! The people that are currently fishing on the lake are in 18 – 22 feet of water and having some consistent success.

Yesterday evening, I was sharing a few stories with a couple guys in the fish cleaning house, and they said that they where out from Lighthouse Gap and there was about 8-1/2 inches of ice where they were fishing. They also said that because of the wind we had last week, about a 20 foot wall of snow blew into Lighthouse Gap…that’s crazy! There are most defiantly more Saugers being caught than Walleyes right now, but I’m sure that will change in the next few days as more people are exploring their favorite fishing holes west of Pine Island. As of today we plan on brining our permanent houses out to the lake on Monday or Tuesday, and we’ll be fishing on Wednesday or Thursday for sure. I have yet to get out there and drill a hole and wet a line; I’m giving it a few more days to harden up just a tad bit more. I will keep you all informed as to what’s happening on “The Worlds Best Hard Water Fishery”, Lake of the Woods.
