My clients and I got on the water at 9 am.with air temps around 30 degrees and the water temps at 46 degrees for the start of our morning. The west part of the lake was just a big wall of fog so we headed to clearer skies to the railway tressel to chase some walleyes , saugers and some slab crappies. The tressel area has some deeper water of 25 feet, so 3/8th and 1/4 once jigs in various colors were the choice to this area. Made 3 drifts and no takers so we set out to my favorite spot when the fo lifted. The water level is up some and the current is bringing down lots of branches and saw a couple of big logs as well flowing down the lake.
We changed over to 1/8th once jigs and ran split shot rigs in this next area with water depths around 11 feet. The wind was just right to do a slow drift for the day to some dragging of our set ups along with some verticle jigging. We started out with getting a slab crappie and a short sauger on the first couple of drifts so we knew it was going to be the spot to be for the day. We were drifting the boat on a ledge about 11 feet on top and it would drop off to 16 feet fast. I have 2 sonars with one running off the bow mounted trolling motor and the other one off the back of the boat . This way you can keep the boat on the top of the drop off , which is critally in finding the fish that are chasing the bait fish.
As the water was warming up to 49 degrees by noon the bite was getting better each time we made another drift. The fish were starting to hit more on the light jigs being jigged verticle as the day went on. We also got some slab crappies , whitebass and sheephead for the day. Over all a great day toout with 2 new freinds.

Thanks for the report bushman
Looks like things are getting started on Lake WI. Temps should fall later this week and really get the eyes and saugers feeding. See you out there Jeff.
