Out on Castle Rock lake with different clients having some good success trolling for eyes and whitebass. We were on the west side of the lake trolling number 5 flicker shads in different colores of perch, crawdad and shiner colors. We were also running 1/3 and 2/5th once cleos as well on the lead core poles, which were just hung out from the edge of the boat. The set-up was up at the bow of the boat on both sides we had 2 poles each with the in-line planer boards with the flicker shads on those and then at mid way of the boat we had 1 on each side with the lead core lines and 2/5th once cleos in the perch patterns. Then we long lined 2 more poles out the back of the boat with 1/3 once cleos in the gold and red colors. The speed was good from 2 to 2.86 mph and later in the morning was the best going the higher speeds. The depth of water we were fishing in was from 7 feet down to 12 feet of water. There are a lot of snags in this are we were fishing so running the baits up high was the key for saving some of the baits.
Over all we had a great time getting a few walleyes, catfish even crappies and catfish on the flicker shads and cleos. The action is just about non stop on the white bass so if you got some kids to take fishing and want them to stay busy in the boat fishing , now is a good time to get to the water.
Take care and be safe !

Great report Jeff
I have only used cleos while casting for trout off the break walls on Michigan. I like the idea of pulling them for eyes
Hi Bret, the cleos are on 4 poles all the time when I,m trolling for eyes and northerns.
Awesome report!
See ya!
Jim

Nice report. I’m from Madison and love trolling for white bass. I have a friend that lives near New Lisbon. I’m going to have to take him over to Castle Rock so he can catch some of those white bass. Thanks.
Good to see those cleo’s are still putting a hurt on the eyes.
Michael
