The theme for the 1st stage of the summer period has been HIGH WATER. Crested just below 12′ at Lansing earlier on this month. Clarity has fluctuated from very poor to exceptionally clear pending location.
Bluegills are camping in backwater weed beds. Flu~Flu’s & Mini~Mites tipped with a chunk of crawler fished 18″ below a float is as close to a sure bet as you can get on the river.
Picked up a dozen leeches for yesterday’s trip. That was a mistake. Should have picked up a couple pounds! Ran into an active jig bite in running sloughs. This big fella completely enhaled a 1/8oz jig tipped with a leech. Pike, Walleye, & Drum all came to the boat. Crawlers were productive as well but not as dominant as the leech.
With slowly falling water levels the bite this weekend should be exceptional. Find clean running water and you’ll find fish.
Thanks for the report, Brett.
Nice Toothy!
How’s the new boat?
That Bluegill looks huge in comparison to the little lady in the picture
Like it alot. I’m glad I went with a little wider model.
The walleye were huge too
Actually snapped this picture last night fishing a point off the main channel. Sauger & walleye both present just couldn’t tie into anything big. Gonna be migration week with falling water levels.
Neat stuff Bos
It is cool to see you putting some slime in the new rig
Good stuff Bos man and great pics of the litte missy
