Left the launch at 415 and headed north setting lines in 50fow south of Wind Point. Three lines in and a double on 4color Grey Ghost J #4 and 5 Color mag Pink Tiger. After that it was so busy I can’t recall the details but I remember taking of both Mag and Reg Broken nose on a number of fish on 6 color and 60’ 3 set dipsy. Wires dipsys with White/glow Opti and Trophy glow/aqua 75 and 85loc went 3 for four and later changed to green Opti and LBB 95 and 105 and went 2 for 4. When things started to quiet put on a Wonderbread from Brad’s and went 7 for 8 after 6AM SWR 30 and later 35 down. 8 color with same and 8 color with Brad’s green cutplug took 2 each. Put a Brads Pink Magic on 5 color for a bow and took 2 4yr olds after 8AM. Mag Green Tiger on 6 color 2 for 3. Ended the morning with a triple at 945 Wonderbread SWR 35, reg Pink Tiger 3set 90loc and SWR 40 with Brads Blue Magic.
Water temp down 25 in 50fow 48 in places with lots of bait. Best speed on Raider was 2-2.2. Started at 1.8 but double on the fast side of a turn so kicked it up a bit. A ripping current from the north made the cable angle the opposite you would expect trolling west in a NE wind. 7 coho, 1brown(becoming a rare catch) and 12 Kings.
Wed AM 330 launch found cold water again in 50fow off Wind Pt. The day started out the same with a 6 color getting pulled out of my hand with Mag Green Tiger and 5 color and #3J Grey Ghost doubling with 3 rods out. We were on a north troll and unable to get all the rods set until 530 and eventually made almost a 5 mile troll before we could get turned. 6 color mag Green Tiger, 4 color #4 Grey Ghost and 7 color Mag Broken Nose busy. Ran 3 dispys all AM flasher/flys and spoons and only one bite on 75’ 3 set Mag Pink Tiger. 30’ Rigger with White Opti/crushed glow and Trophy glow/aqua 3 fish and 3 drive bys that didn’t release. When able to get the 8 colors out Brad’s Wonderbread and Lemon Lime each took 2. Wonderbread SWR only one today 35 down. Missed a very big leaping bow on 6 color Mag Green Tiger. Pulled the 4 color and add a fullcore and Brad’s blue Magic and took
Got a call at 815 that the launch would be blocked off at 9 AM for a number of hours due to President Obama’s visit so quickly pulled lines boxing #19 in the process with 2 shakers returned. Speed again 2-2.2 and again doubled on the fast side. Had one triple today and no netter and hand landing around 7# coho by gabbing the Mag green Pink Tiger didn’t work. Ended with 5 coho, 1 LT and 13 kings. Two superb days with great friends with tired arms.
Tight lines and full coolers,
Grey Beard
Awesome report Michael!
Hope the winds stay lite and the bite stays hot through the weekend.
