Milwaukee Lake Michigan 5/26

Hit the water at 0445 heading south of the north gap setting lines in 55fow and heading NE. First to go 3 set Dipsy 80loc orange Tiger 8# king. Then 6 color and 7 color next with reg pink Tigers. Saw a ton of bait and marks in 65-75fow but not very fast action. Next to go a wire Dipsy 1.5 set 70loc White/glow Opti and LBB. Rigger fired SWR reg green Tiger down 80 and 5 for 5 by 615.

Started to head east thinking of the 140s that worked for us Monday. Heard someone say they saw some fish on the surface so I put out a mono board with 80’ lead no wt and reg dble Orange Crush. 10 minutes later had a bow screaming out drag. Popped a coho 45 down SWR mag Broken Nose and that would fire once again later. Finally one of the Bechholds and Bluelongtail came thru 55loc coho. Sitting 9 for 9 feeling good as compared to the misses Monday.

Talked on the radio of where we were and others were dry so crowded very quickly. I foolishly left to get out of the crowd and headed towards Monday’s waypt and nadda in the hour plus it took out and back. Got back to the productive water 70loc wire Dipsy and white Opti and dble Aqua another king. Bechold fired and missed. 7 color reg Redhook Sister Sledge but escaped as we were picking cotton wood fuzz which we had to do often today or wouldn’t get thru the tip. 70’ rigger looked funny and wondered if I picked up some trash. Well sort of, 4# LT on a white/glow Opti LBB. 8 color with reg Miss Thing drowned a small king. Bechhold fired again but this time a 6# king 55loc. Ran the same setup same depth on the other side and nadda. 5 color and reg dble orange crush had a leaper but much to our surprise a 5# king. 300’ 30# copper with spoons and flashers nadda and same for full core.

Temp on the surface in 100fow 56 but 62 by 11AM. 43 down 60. Pushed the speed just a little at 2.1-2.2 on the Depth Raider. Still puzzled by all the marks 60 to the bottom and only took one salmon down deep. Best action 95-105fow. I think we might have any early June slow period as fish were scattered. One boat arrived late and trolled 80 to 200’ without a strike. Seems best if you find a few biters don’t leave looking for greener pastures. We pecked away at em ending 13 for 16 with 1 Bow, 1LT, 4 coho and 7 kings with 4 of them 7-9#. Michael had the hot hand today and his turn has the best fish. MyBoy had similar numbers including 5 kings 10-15# fishing the same local.

Tight lines and full coolers,
