Lake Puckaway , & Fox River, Wi. walleye 5/1/10

A big storm with 2 inches of rain and a tornado touch down a few miles from the lake last night , with no injuries to anyone that I have heard of passed over the lake last night. Clear skies and high winds with the high pressure moving in for the day. Water temps finally stayed in the 60,s over night . We started out fishing with 1/32 and 1/16 once jigs in colors of yellow , white and orange and also with the split shot rigs with colored beads and colored hooks. The river area where we were fishing is about 5 to 7 feet deep with a nice ledge on both sides that hold fish when they are feeding on bait fish. We were marking some nice schools of bait fish in several areas with some big arcs of fish underneathe the bait fish. The fish seemed to just like the dragging jig method for the mourning with the high pressure moving in. We caught about 21 walleyes, 1 catfish and a few bigger perch and the the pisky sheephead as well this mourning. Here is a pic. of Joe and company for the mourning guide trip. A great day out there.

We set up on the Fox river fishing with the same jigs and split shot rigs as the other days report to center our intentions on some walleyes for the day. They wanted to get a feel of the river of where to navigate the river on their own so we hit quite of few different areas for fishing. With the river averaging about 5 feet of water and lots of different logs in some shallow spots you should know of where you are going for sure. So we went up river about 5 miles and started to hit different holes on the way down. We were catching short walleyes in 5 different holes up river so we decided to drop back down to the no wake area at the mout of Lake Puckaway. We got 3 keepers on the first 2 drifts and were also getting some small ones as well. Heres a pic. of the crew for the day with some fish.
