Early ice out and what it means for you!

The earliest ice out ever on Rainy Lake is April 13, we may break that record this year. We are already fishing in boats on Sand Bay and below the railroad bridge. It looks like we will get at least ten great days in Sand Bay before the season ends on April 14th.

What does an early ice out mean to you? #1 our opener should be one of the best ever. The ice will have been out for thirty days, spawn well over and post spawn doldrums over. The walleye opener is a week late this year, normally the opener is the second Saturday in May, this year it is May 15th the third Saturday in May. Northern Pike, Crappie and Smallmouth bass seasons never close on Rainy. The crappies should be in fine form early in May, smallmouth will start staging on the points just out from the June spawning areas, the pike will be staging in the shallow dark bottom bays.

Give our office a call for an unbelievable daily or weekly rate May 15-22, tell then you saw this post on Idofishing.com
and you will receive an offer that will make a muskies strike seem tame! 2010 is the year to visit Rainy Lake Houseboats for a spring fishing trip.
