Pool 10 Ambro Slough

Been out the past couple days looking for some new water to fish..Put out and ran down to Big Lake. There is plenty of ice as the commercial fishermen are driving their full sized trucks down here..We did not find a pot of gold, but one of us did manage 3 species…walleye, perch and blue gill…just nothing of any consistency to keep us interested

After about 4 hours of exploring big lake we headed back up into the Ambro Back Waters. We found the crappies in just about every area we fished…Some dandy crappies were coming on the dead stick with a purple demon jig and a waxie. The new rod holders I have been using allows the rod to swing down towards the hole as a strike indicator, It is balanced so well that it takes little effort to swing the rod tip down towards the hole, allowing me to grab the rod and set the hook !! We found that most all the active fish came a foot or so up off the bottom.

Even the perch were coming up a foot up off the bottom. I would watch all the gills, perch, crappies, bass and oh yes, northern pike on my Marcum 820. I drop the camera head down just far enough that I can see a bit of the bottom for contrast, my jig in the back ground and it’s Sony Flat Screen in the Otter !!!

Pike like this were being caught on Lil cecil’s and 2 pound test !! GREAT JOB SCOTT !!!

I really do like the Marcum 820. This is a black and white camera that has the ability to dial in any setting to match the water clarity your fishing in..Brightness,contrast, color and sharpness and the light settings allow me to dial in a setting that makes seeing the fish and my jig pretty easily !!

Late ice is just around the corner and that’s will make for some of the best ice fishing of the year, and also some of the most dangerous..

Be careful out there and be safe !!
