Pool 9 Gills and Crappies

My second trip out of the year brought me to pool 9 for some more hard water action. Looking for Crappies in specific we headed out into some back water pad fields that have had some nice slabs in past years…

Once there, we drilled several holes with the 6″ Lazer hand auger and dropped down our baits…With Gill Pills,Lil Cecils and Purists we found some nice slabs early.

Within a short period of time the sun was on it’s way up and we noticed several preditor fish coming thu. With these gators crusing by with regularity, the crappies we on the run and did not want anything to do with our offerings.

We decided to pick up and head to another remote location where we knew there was a good gill bite going on…Picking late morning as a time to find active fish is not always a good idea but anything was better then what we had. We set up in a long chute that had good weed growth on both sides in about 5 feet of water…A Zebera Gill Pill took some dandy 8″ plus gills for this guy..

If it wasn’t for the LX-5 by Marcum I know I would have not been able to find some of them…I had some high flyers come thru and quickly raised my bait up to their level… POW !!! FISH ON !!!

I just can’t even imagine not having my Marcum out there any more..It would be like fishing blind..

Some of the equiptment I was using today was:
the Gill Pills from Custom Jigs and Spins

Marcum LX-5 from Versa Electronics

Otter One Man Pro from Otter Outdoors

See Ya On The Ice !!!
