Pool 9 Mississippi River Ice Fishing 1/10/04

I thought yesterday was nice…today was way nice !!!

The ice trafic was busier today than it was yesterday but the fish still cooperated…I had several gills today that measured 7 3/4 inches that i let go…but….looking for that 9 inch gill but never found it…

I found some nice gills and some really nice perch, and because i was fishing in a work fishing derby these guys went right into the bucket…

The crappie moved in and the gills went somewhere else…lots of crappie in the 9 inch mark…lots and lots of them…several in the 10 inch to 12 inch range too….the two that made their way to my bucket today were both in the 12 + inch range…

It was a good get together, the 3M Clubs Ice Fishing Derby…The 3M employees gather together and put on several events each year…these employee funded events are a great way to enjoy the resources we have around us here in Prairie du Chien… Thanks guys( Jim Mezera,Ken Johnson,Jim Rohde) for your volenteered time, putting on this event each year…

  2. Those are some very nice fish dave. Glad to see that you found them this weekend. Hear any reports from the lansing area lately? Thinking about heading up there some day this week.

  3. Dave,

I just have to know. Is that your winter haircut? Nice hat and all, but what’s with the side locks, anyway? And do they get longer or shorter in summer?

Nice report, though. And good fishin’.

  4. even a nice hat like the BFT hat can’t hide the nasty du i have right now…If i wasn’t spending so much time on the ice i’d have time for a hair cut…Wednesday i’ll get a couple of them cut…

Hey Mike !! I wasn’t aware you had a degree in cosmetology you little fashon bug you

  5. Dave,

I couldn’t resist. And while I realize that making a fashion statement is not what it’s all about, I sometimes wonder. Can fish see you when they look up?

No degree. But perhaps we could get you a nice hat with ear flaps. And a B Fish N logo on the front. A nice touch. I’ll keep my eyes open.

  6. Uh… yeah. Let’s just say Mike wouldn’t need one of those small mirrosr to signal the rescue plane if he ever got lost!

  7. And to think that my stylist actually works for me. Jealous? Nah. While you guys are busy using that hairdryer, combing, buying the expensive gel (well, in Dave’s case, the motor oil) and so forth, I’ve used the towel, buffed me dry and already left the dock. No muss, no fuss.

My wife’s favorite saying… “The more hair I lose, the more head I get.”

    Jealous? Never.
