The Daily Fishing Report: There is only one word that can describe the fishing on Lake of the Woods this year, and that is, UNBELIEVABLE! If the opener is any indication to what we can expect for the year, you will be doing yourself and your family a disservice if you don’t make it up here to participate in all the excitement. There are probably 200 boats out in Four Mile Bay as I’m writing this and they are all catching fish. People are limiting out in an hour or less, and they are also catching some nice monster Walleye along the way. I heard a group say that in less than 30 min, they had 6 keepers and had to throw back 15 that where 25” – 27”…again, UNBELIEVABLE! The largest Walleye that I have heard of today was 32”…I didn’t get to get peak at her, but I guess she was nice and fat. The gentleman that brought her into his boat was nice enough to through her back to let someone else experience the fight some other day. You want to be fishing in about 15 – 18 feet of water today. You want to use 3/8 oz & ½ oz, Chartreuse, Pink & Orange/Gold jigs. You want to be using frozen shiners as bait. I think if you heed the information given, then you too, will experience an UNBELIEBABLE fishing day out on Lake of the Woods throughout the weekend. FYI – in less than one hour we caught over 25 Walleye (keepers), by using the lures and bait that I just informed you about.
very good post Wigmam!…i knew that what my friends who are staying with you were saying about the fishing “being slow” must be inaccurate.
Please inform the Gunderson group of how to catch fish so that they will not be depressed and grumpy on monday at work…:)
James…I’m sorry I didn’t see this till this morning. They sould have had no problem catching the fish. The next time they are up here and they say they are having problems finding the fish, please just have them come speak to me and I’ll put them on the fish. When are you coming up here? When you do, please introduce yourself and I will for sure put you on the fish!!!
Happy Fishing,
Jean-Paul Tessier
Hedder, your attempts to discredit the WigWam and the Gunderson parties is treasonous!!! The Gunderson fishing team and the Whiffer are storied anglers in these parts. Good job making it out on the opener this year, any fool who is sitting at his computer making ridiculous claims when they should be on the water fishing and drinking beer is automatically discredited. WigWam, I sincerely apologize for the post made by this fair weathered fisherman, I would presume future Hedder posts will be seen in the true light in which they are written.
The Whiffer
very angry…just as I expected after LOFT resulted in little fish caught. i was just trying to do my part and relay real-time intel from the “experts” on the water. Technology is wonderful.
Next year, I will show you how to anchor on current break, drink beer and let fish come to you, as the kind gentleman from Wigwam clearly pointed out.
