You have to love fishing this time of year in November. Oh wait is it really December already? Who would of thought you could be out on the river fishing for walleyes and saugers and be able to boat over 50 fish in one day. Well it is still happening.
My trip this weekend was with Terry Barrette from River Falls , WI. Our morning started out early pitching riprap shorelines and rocky points. The riprap we looked for was steep with deep water next to structure. This day was accompanied by 15-mph south winds. Not something I really enjoy having while pitching. Once realizing that we were having too much bow in our line I decided we had better adjust our boat. I adjusted the boat so that we were throwing up stream along with the wind. This would able us to bring back the bait on a straight and taught line. Making this small adjustment really started paying off for us. As soon as the adjustment was made Terry started nailing some nice 20 inch plus walleyes. If fact, he had 3 walleyes in the boat before I had one. Adjusting to this fine detail really paid off for the rest of the day. When it is windy you really have to adjust your boat and the ways you present you bait. Here is a picture of Terry with a couple nice walleyes he took early. Our morning was followed with 20 legal walleyes all by 9:30. Firecracker colored Kalins on a 1/8 jig was the best presentation. As soon as the sun was high in the sky we made the switch back over to ringworm&amps and then too super doos.
The walleyes only wanted one presentation, motionless. It seemed that has soon as you started popping or making subtle movements one wouldn’t get bit. Throwing the ringworm up the side of the rip rap and letting the wind and current take it down on its own was the only presentation that worked for us this weekend. This is where the size of the jig really did matter. If you were to heavy one would end up popping the jig back and not getting bit.
During the middle of the day we decided to catch some saugers and wait till the later part of the day to go back and start pitching. The saugers seem to always be biting this time of year so we were in no hurry to go catch them. The best and only bait I used for these was Super Doos again. Just because I am too lazy to bend over and put a minnow on.
We ended the day pitching again and it was Déjà vu all over again. By the days end we had just under 30 walleyes for the day. NOT ONE WAS UNDER 15 INCHES. This is Terry with his stringer of eater male walleyes he took home on this day. Please remember to let the big ones go.

Hey Jarrad nice report! Saw you out and about on Sunday, what was your best ringworm color? I could only get bit on the glitter patterns mid day and about sundwon they went ballistic on the K-grubs . Sounds like the same happend for your boat as well.
This one right here. I think this one is called fire and Ice. Fire Cracker was the best in the morning when we were throwing Kalin’s.
This is the one that was hot in the morning. I started with Blue pearl but as soon as my customer had three fish in the boat before I had one I switched over to this one, I think it is Firecracker.
Great Report…. like usual ……. Would be better though if you were holdin bronzebacks instead of bottom feeders…lol
Don’t hold back Dylan……Let us know how you really feel.
