Lake Vermilion walleye report.

Hi All,The walleye action has been pretty good on the Big V the last several days. The prime time for action has been first light and just after sunset. I have done well on jigs and spoons primarily but tip-ups have also been effective at times.Ice conditions have improved some what with 8 to 10" in most areas. Much of which is frozen slush orre-frozen broken ice. The snow has pretty much beem melted or blown away so getting around is easy with an ATV or snowmobile, or walking for that matter. We should be able to drive on it very soon with the cold night time temps, but don’t push your luck. <img src="http://www.in-depthangling.com/forums/lake/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have been doing very well with glo jigs in the early morning and spoons in the afternoon. I use a whole minnow, either a chubb or small sucker seems to work the best for me. Shoreline breaks in 12 to 18ft have been very productive, I have also taken a few bonus Pike in the same locations. There have been some reports of decent action as deep as 30ft.I however have not yet ventured out that far due to the condition of the ice. I have been fishing the Mckinley park area of Big Bay, most anglers I have talked to in the area are doing well.

I have been guiding fulltime since 1988, I also do a few tournaments for Muskie and walleye. I am addicted to fishing all species, but the one that makes me smile the most, is Muskie!
