We got to Lake Wisconsin, about 8:30 and winds were low and pressure was dropping in the mourning . Should be good fishing.
With the barometer dropping down to 29.6 overnight , we knew it was going to be a better day fishing for saugers and walleyes. The wind was out of the west and calm in the mourning but was projected to be about 25 mph as the day went on and it did get very windy later. Water temps were 39 in the mourning and made it up to 45 degrees by afternoon.
We started out fishing in a deep strecth that was about 19 to 21 feet with sharp breaks on both sides that came up to 10 feet of water out of the troth. We would slip down with current verticle jigging 3/8 hair jigs and plastics. The hot color for the day was which ever you had in purple. When we got to the bottom edge of the hole where it narrowed down and came up to 12 feet of water. We would turn the boat side ways in the current and let the wind push us up river. We would just drag the same jigs back up the river with good success also. Both techniques were working good. Wind got too bad so we were moving to a quiter spot and another good spot.
The second spot started out fast for us . This area was about 17 feet deep and and was considerable smaller area to fish , but the fish were just stacked up in there. Jason pulled out a nice one as soon as we got the jig down and started to verticle jigging. Purple was the color here as well with plastics doing better than the hair jigs. This spot had some big snags in it and the fish were up tight to the stucture. As you wee jigging you would feel the structure and raise your jig over it and lower it back down when you did not feel it and they would just inhale the hole jig and stinger hook. The pic. of the biggest one for the day right behind that tree. Great day on the water with a good freind Micheal and my son Jason.
