The fishing here on Lake Fork has been good for big fish. The big factor in the last 10 days has been fighting the wind. The Bass have been biting good when you can stay on them. With this cold front and the rain we are getting, it will drop the water temp back down a little but it will bounce back quick. The Bass have been active over main lake grass beds and on the flats in the back of creeks. The back of the creeks have really started to warm up, but I do expect the temps to drop a little with this cold front, but I don’t expect it to make the shallow fish move out of their spawning grounds. The Bass are starting to come up on beds in the Northern ends of the lake this week.
Most of the Bass we have been catching have been on the beds and it has been tough the last few days to stay on these fish with the high winds. We have boated some nice fish this past week, Monday was our best day for numbers. Steve Taylor and his dad fished with me from Orange Texas and we put 38 bass in the boat. Steve boated a 9lb 8oz female that was full of eggs and after a few pictures Steve put her back in the lake. Today the weather was about as nasty as it can get with cold and rain all day, but that is Spring time in early March here in East Texas. One day it’s 80 the next it is 40. We started the day with a Spinner bait and in the first two hours only caught 3. I picked up a Rod that had a black and gold Rogue on it and on my second cast caught one that weighed 10lbs 4oz. After that we threw the Rouge the rest of the day and by the end of the day we put 16 in the boat with three more over seven pounds.
The most constant bait this week for me has been Texas Rigging a Watermelon Red Baby Brush Hog and Wacky Rigging a Green Pumpkin Trick Worm. All of our Bass have come from 2 to 5 feet of water. Good places to try right now are Glade Creek the East and West Field, the North banks of Big and Little Mustang, and Ray Branch. The way things are lining up with this cold front look for the last week of this month and all of April to be a slugfest. Good Fishing,

Thanks for the report David! It sounds like you are enduring some very incosistent weather patterns down there. Nice job mixing it up until you found out what they wanted.
