I was out everyday this past week except today and the fishing was good except for Sunday. We Landed some big lakers on spinning tackle that we caught and released, but what a blast catching these brutes on light spinning tackle with jigs and gulp!!!
I also fished out of bender park and we absolutely crushed the fish at the power plant casting plastics and fishing minnows, and there was not another boat in sight which was fantastic!!!!!
I also made out fishing from shore with some clients this past week and we landed 19 fish from shore and missed another dozen fish. there’s something magical about shore fishing and it never gets old!
The rivers are starting to open up and there’s a lot of fresh chromers pushing up as well! Too much to do, so little time!!!
From the boat….through the ice….and now…off the shore??!??!

It was a real pita to launch from Grant Park sometimes,but it was well worth it.Bender launch should have happened YEARS ago,but the county dragged it’s heals too long.

The bite was so so today we ended up with 16 fish landed no big hogs. Biggest was about 10 lbs so I did not break out the camera or video recorder… Clients had fun and the weather was decent. Gulp and trolling was the ticket, although I do not prefer to troll it certainly has it’s time and place for all species of big game fish! I grew up trolling in the late 70’s and 80’s with my dad non stop for salmon as a kid so if I can get them on stand up tackle count me in!
