This ice fishing season has been good with an excellent crappie bite including some perch, northern and an occasional walleye in the mix. We have had an unusual amount of snow which has made access tough and one has needed a snowmobile to get onto the lakes. But………………
…………….that has changed. We have found with the moisture we have received this week that the snow has pretty much disappeared or, at the least, dwindled, so that one should not have too much trouble driving out. Ice is about 36” and I have not heard any remarks of concern regarding it’s quality. So as we say, there is no such thing as safe ice, so always check first and/or check with nearby people or businesses. We are in the middle of February so we should start in the next couple of weeks to see the fish moving towards the shallows. Also, with access possibly easier, we should also be able to explore more lakes that have not had any fishing pressure…..Won’t this be fun.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Ted Takasaki with Tim Bakken of Pioneer Public Broadcasting out of Appleton, MN were here and had fun getting their own limit of fish to take home for supper. In the first picture the blonde of Tony Dean fame is me and the beautiful brunette is Danielle. We had a lot of fun during their stay here and look forward to them coming back. Dave Genz, the man of vision when it comes to ice fishing, is still involved with improving ice fishing.
I hope you enjoy the pictures and if you drewl (I’m not sure how to spell it) a little bit we will forgive you.
Take care and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Wow. Those are some nice looking crappies. I see you let anyone into your resort.
Dean was there once…so yeah she pretty much does.
Nice report Jan, have you heard of any lakes giving up any good size or numbers of perch?
