Red Wing, MN Pool 4 walleye Report

I can’t believe I am DOO’ing it again. This week I spent my time away from Pool 5 and concentrated on Pool 4. I guided out of Everts Resort in Hager City, WI. and found the walleye and sauger action to be just awesome

This week are clients were Tony Apisa and Brent Henning of Rock Island, ILL. Tony is one of the new In Depth Angling Field Staffers for one of the lower pools of the Mississippi(pool 16). Welcome aboard Tony. Tony was also the one that bought my boat last year so he received a free guided fishing trip.

We started out our day out on the lake looking for some big fish in one of my big fish spots. Most of the action was tied up with crappies and stripers but no mongo walleyes. We did have a few big tie ups with big fish but never got to see them. After spending a couple of hours in the big fish spot we decided to head up to the dam area in look for some numbers. We defintely found the numbers.

The first Picture is Tony holding a couple of the big saugers we took this day. The best presentation for us was Super Doo’s. Yes, this was the first time I started the plastics for this fall and it paid off. Most of the bigger fish we found was away from the crowd.The best colors were orange/black and Mustard with green speckles. Suspending these Super Doo’s about 8-12 inches above the bottom was the best. We found that if we fished the bottom most of the fish were smaller. So if your looking for some bigger fish try and suspend these Super Doo’s just a little higher. This next picture is of Tony and Brent with their day limit of nice quality fish.
