Made it out today with 2 clients on the tribs for steelies and browns and I was pleasantly surprised how well we did considering yesterday was horrible with just 4 fish landed. With the weather colder (18 degree’s) this morning at 7 AM and blue bird skies I figured well it will be a tough one today!
Much to my surprise we did better than I expected. Overall clients and I landed 16 fish with some big steelhead and browns mixed in and we lost 9 other fish.
Our fish came on jigs, spawn, cranks, and spinners. Float control was crucial and sizing down was also crucial due to gin clear water!
Heading back out tomorrow to try for some harbor trout again!
I love steelhead fishing! Ranks at about the top of my fishing species I enjoy fishing for the most!
Good Fishing!

few more fish…….opps I added 1 wrong pic. Opps
You are killing me . I think I need to make a trip out there soon.
Do you guys keep fish that big to eat?
Some people do, personal preference.
I don’t know about eating them, but catching them sure sounds like a lot of fun!
Nice fish as usual!
What is your tackle set up for these winter trout Eric?
Beautiful fish, once again Eric. Great report!
Today was another one of those magical days! I had a client fly in from Oregon who has fished all over the world in pursuit of a brown trout over 10 lbs. When I say all over the world I mean it like new Zealand and Paragonia (Sp?) etc..
We are fishing together for 2 days and in the first 2 hours of the trip we smashed his personal best record brown trout with a 14 lber. This guy went nuts with enthusium, which is why I love this job! Getting to see this guy experience his fish of a life time was as cool as it gets! But wait it gets even better! We were just pounding the browns and steelies non stop all day when at about 3 PM an even bigger brown smashed his bait. He starts to go nuts again this time a 17 lb huge male, but wait it gets even better 30 minutes later a huge big hen close to 20 lbs and fights like crazy!
So it was a fantastic day and he agreed that we have by far the best big fish brown trout fishery in the world!
Overall we had close to 25 browns and a dozen steelhead. I did not even take any pics of steelhead since he’s from the west coast and he really did not want to target them.
Here’s his pics of a life time from today’s trip.
We’ll see how tomorrow goes…….

Awesome!
That must have been an incredible experience for your client. Boy does that ever sound like fun.
Those fish are just flat out incredible.
Well this A.M was not as good as yesterday but still a great day! First fish of the day my clients hooks up with this beast big buck male in the upper teens.
We fished for 3 1/2 hours and landed about 10 fish.
Fishing was solid with a fish every 20 minutes or so but not as crazy as yesterday! Time to get ready for the deer hunting this weekend!
Eric
How can you hunt when you got fish like that going? What do the deer look like that you hunt? Big like those fish, too?
This is kind of a side note but I just wanted to say…IDOFishing is cool!! What other site can you get info or see world class fish like this? There is Haataja catching big browns, steelies, Muskie, Smallies, Pike and then there is Steve DeZurik and Dustin that catch world class walleyes and smallies. And Brian K catching huge cats and sturgeon. And others that I missed (Mr Bowman muskies?) I mean…what a site for fishing!!
This is an awesome site! I just like the fact that there is no bashing or slandering on this site like other sites. I also post the same detailed info on my site as well under the fishing reports section.
Good bunch of guys here, and some excellent fisherman that we all can learn from!
In regards to the deer I’m just thrilled to get a weekend off and just sit in a stand for a change! I love to hunt those big whitetails! Heading out in 1 hour.
