Slow but sure smallie bite

The weather forecast was for high winds and possibly rain but mother nature held off and provided us with a beautiful day. Today I fished with Tom and Mark Mowbray for their annual fall bay smallie trek. The bite continues somewhat slower than normal for this time of year. We were on fish all day but just couldnt get any real flurries. A couple fish each location we tried and the overall size was great. Our trip was topped of with Mark’s 20 3/4 inch 5lb. 14 oz. smallie. It is pretty easy to tell which fish it is when you see the pictures. I even got to hold up a big smallie for a pic and my fish didnt come close to measuring up to Mark’s. Thank you both for a fun day on the water and the always appreciated supplied lunch! We caught fish on 50% live bait and 50 % artificials. No real pattern as the fish came from 6 to 20 ft of water. 1.5 oz. Ledgebuster spinnerbaits, 1/2 oz jigging spoons in gold, silver and white were the top artificials. Mark unfortunately lost a really big fish on the rocks which we didnt get to see. It happens! Be safe and Good luck.
