Lake Menomin Wisconsin Walleye Fishing Report

The water temp. is hitting that magic mark. My thinking was that many presentaions would put fish in the boat. The wind today had other ideas.I was Out to do a little pre-fishing for the ARM event Saturday. The wind made it pretty tough to search for gills or do any type of livebait fishing. Those of you that fish Menomin know what I mean.

The good news is, the crank bite is going strong. I started the day trolling on of my favorite areas and within minutes had a rod bending. I will be more specific for you guys Saturday. The area I was fishing was about 1/4 protected from the wind. At least the major brunt of it. I was targeting 11 fow, running both longlines and lead.

Speed varied from 1.5 to 3mph, depending on how high the wind gust got. Right around 2mph seeemed to be the best. Most of my fish came on leadcore. Again, I was running in 11fow with 64ft of line out. The flatlines, I was running back 101ft. The hottest lure today was the firetiger bentlipped shad. I was running the bentlipped on the lead. White glass was a close second and was the choice of the crappies.

I did a little gill fishing also and found a few in 7fow. If you are targeting gills Saturday, watch your locator and when you find weeds give it a whirl.

Well short and sweet but I figured most of the guys would check in tonight. The trolling bite will provide some good action for the kids. We will see you in the morning.
