Sunday Oct. 5th I had great fun fishing with Gary Gallauger and Nick Sloat from Marengo, Ill. We were on the bay at 8:30 am and fished hard over a 9 hour period. We are experiencing a strange bite right now as most of the fish are picking up live bait, running with it and then spitting it out. Stanley Big T spinnerbaits, gold jigging spoons and watermelon french frys were our artificials of choice and they at least held on to these when they hit. We spent much of the day in 20 to 22 ft of water on rock/clay edges as the amount of fish using this area was incredible. It was amazing how many fish we put suckers in front of their mouths and sometimes not get a bite. We did manage to land some nice smallies though as shown here by both Gary and Nick. Thanks gentlemen! The past two days were spent shooting video for upcoming Mepps videos with Todd Plath and Rob Myers. The morning bite was definitely the best as this morning we caught 8 fish very quickly on Big T spinnerbaits (Chart/White with gold blade), one on a white jigging spoon and another on live bait. Again, we had many hit and runs as the bass were very finicky. I want to thank Todd Plath from Mepps for all his support. I threw in a picture of Rob Myers holding a nice Chequamegon smallie caught on a Stanley Big T spinnerbait. Indian summer is sure wonderful but am looking forward to some declining water temps to get the smallies on a consistent bite. Good Luck and be safe!

Chris,
As always, thanks for a great time out on the Bay! I’m sure the smallies will start putting on the feedbag very quickly as it’s cooling off more this week.
Thanks also for posting my pic. My new wallpaper!

Hopefully you can get up here one more time this fall. Pretty hard to predict weather and fishing!! Thanks for supplying the spinnerbaits and driving that long distance to fish. Have a great week.
