Hi All,Thw walleye action has been hot this week on the Big V. The lake is almost void of any boats, so all the fish are just waiting for someone to catch them on a jig. Sharp drops of off mainlake points and islands have been the best locations for me this week. The deep side of structure is what you want to target.A slow vertical presentation is a must as these fish will not chase to far. I have been using 3/8 oz bright colored jigs tipped with a shiner, but they will also hit rainbows, chubs or suckers as well. The lake is very near turnover and it may go this week. Water temps are in the low 50’s in the mainlake areas, but most of the back bays are in the mid to high 40’s already.
The Muskie action has been picking up this week. So far trolling has produced some of the best numbers.Gliders and big hair have also produced some big fish, including a 52"er on Saturday. Rocks, islands and other mainlake structure, seems to be holding the most active fish. I have however had some good action in the deep cabbage as well.As water temps fall into the mid 40’s, the trolling action will get even better. Firetiger 10" Jakes or13" Grandmas in the baby pike pattern, are stone killers, this time of the season. Watch for bait on or along gravel or rocky shoreline breaks. The fall spawning is about to happen and the muskies will be there with them.
