I got up this morning got my work done, and thought Gee I’d better go check the walleyes on the rocks.
As I headed up the river this morning I heard and odd sound.
It was an Old Train whistle.. This is the vintage train that has been running from Winona and the Twin Cities.
It is really a pretty cool site to behold coming down the tracks along the lake. Made me think about what it must have been like on the river 100 years ago, something I can only dream about how things might have been.
After it went by I was looking for Indians behind every tree.
With all the Big boat traffic slowing.
Duck season underway.
Most tournaments finished.
Get ready for some of the best walleye action the midwest has to offer.
They will be putting on the feed bag.
I went out this morning for 4 hours before the Twins game.
I got five very nice fish.
Pictured is the largest.
I have been targeting these fish for the last two weeks.
They are starting to come in more numbers finally.
Work the breaks from 12 to 18 feet of water.
Still taking all these fish on rock breaks with a bare Black bucktail fished vertical.
Good luck and let the Big Ones Go.
Here is a picture of the Queen that stopped at Wabasha last weekend.
If you have never seen one of these Riverboats up close on the water, your missing out.
They are some very awesome ships of yesteryear.
This was the Mississippi Queen.
The American Queen is the newest and largest of the fleet.
The Delta queen is the smallest vessel.
So when you get down to Wabasha to visit the sites…
Here is a great place to have lunch and watch the river pass by.
Slippery’s good food and great atmosphere.
