I had taken a couple of days off so I was ready to hit the water again. Trolling cranks had yielded a few eyes the past few trips.Thats how I would start today. The first picture is a crankbait eye from Monday. After a few trolling passes and one 14 incher, I figured it was time for some jigging.
It did not take long to make contact. The second picture is a couple eyes (CPR)that hit bucktails. The key depth today was 9ft. Both trolling and jigging. The jig bite is picking up and a good percentage of keepers are coming to the boat. I am getting some nice fish over 20 inches. I would like to encourage you to release the over 20s. You will catch plenty of 15 to 18 inchers if you want to keep some eaters. The inside turns of the 9 foot depth was key the today. Monday I made the switch to hair jigs. Today they out fished regular jigs ten to one. Earlier this spring I got some hair jigs from Lee Fluekiger. Let me tell you these jigs are making all the difference in the world. I have been using the same jig the last three trips. I don’t think the jig has lost one strand of hair! Plus the eyes love em. If you need some great custom made jigs give Lee a call.
No other species cooperated. I was not targeting them, but No crappies, perch or gills today. Wind and rain tommorow should make for another fine day for making eye contact. I am heading to pool 4 to do some fishing with RCL Pro Patrick Slater. See ya on the water, Don
I know what you mean about those jigs Don, When I bought Jarrad’s boat I found 18 of them and I have had very good success with them. I just hope that I dont have to buy another one of his boat’s to get more…….lol……
River Ratt,
I will accidentally leave 25 of them in my next boat if you buy it. Gotta love the FisherFlick jigs. Only hair jig I know that has a secret to them.
Hey Jarrad, give me a life time supply of those jigs and I just might buy it…………Gotta go… here comes the wife……lol……
