Pool 4 2-24-08

Nothing better than a trip to pool 4 on your B-Day!!

With the warm temps we (C&R & I) hit the river about 9:30 am. After getting some great tips from Brian K we headed up river to see what the day would bring.

We started off pitchin & got nothing, so it was off to drag some ringworms. Didn’t take long and C&R was saying "Fish on." We just got that one in and it wasn’t 3 min later & he said it again. Great job Chris, It was fun fishin with ya again!!

I did knock one of Chris’s fish off at boat side & felt bad about it. He did get even later as he dropped my rod holder in the river. LOL Chris, We’re even now right?

What a great day on the water. Good friends + Great fishin = a special B-Day I soon won’t forget!!! If ya get the chance to hit the river stop in at Everts. Dean or BK will fill ya in on all the latest & Greatest Info!!! I will be back very soon!!

  1. Doug & Chris….sorry I missed you guys.It appears you guys didnt forget how to catch fish.Happy birthday to ya and I hope the back is on the mend!

  2. Wow, what a truly great day on the river. Nice quantities of fish and those gals look like they have been eating footballs again. Their bellies are plump full of spawn. The biggest 2 gals (sauger) taped out just a hair shy of 21″. It didn’t really seem like there was a color preference either. Although some colors didn’t produce, many did and it didn’t matter what part of the color spectrum they were in.

Ha! Doug says he felt bad that he “knocked” one of my fish off at boatside but it was more like he was trying to beat it off the end of my line. He was swinging the net like it was a golf club! Besides that it was premeditated because he told me he was going to do it. But like he said, I got him back

Thanks for the great day Doug. Glad you had a great Birthday. The fish gods certainly shined on us for it.

Dean, hopefully we’ll be able to make it down for the FYBO tourney on Saturday. You’ve got some great helpers down there but I did see Brian crossing out your name on a box of cookies while replacing it with his name… must be a fringe benefit

    Chris

  4. Doug and Chris sorry I missed you guys Dave G and I were down there at the same time we fished until around 5pm. Dave managed to catch a couple of Saugers and I caught about a 10 LB cat. Maybe we will see ya next time.

  5. We are heading to red wing this weekend. It will be our first time there this year and any tips on what to do, where to go and what to use would help! Thanks!!

  6. Happy Birthday Doug. I could not think of a better way to spend a birthday. Too bad I’ll have to settle for the dentist chair on my birthday in 2 weeks.

    Great report and great fish!

  7. GB, There’s alot of info on the river here on IDO. But if ya talk with Dean at Everts, he will point ya in the right direction. Was down for the afternoon bite yesterday & the bite for us was slower than Sunday. Still caught 7 fish from 3pm to 7pm.

  8. GREAT LOOKING FISH GUYS! NICE JOB! HOW MANY WALLEYES DID YOU CATCH? THOSE FISH LOOK TO BE SAUGEYES AND SAUGERS CORRECT? GOOD READ TOO.

  9. Doug, Thank is great way to spend your birthday. Fishing on open water, all you needed was the cake and ice cream.
