Mille Lacs Perch Action w/ Video

On this trip out to Mille Lacs, I had the pleasure to fish with Bob Carlson. Bob and I had a great time out on the lake. The perch weren’t biting as fast as we would like, but we caught enough to keep us fishing for more. With the cold weather we decided to take out the Snow Bear from Hunter Point and WOW what an awesome machine. It was a great place go inside and warm up, plus we even fished out of it, early morning and late evening. If anyone is looking for an easy way to get around on the lake, this machine is the way to go.

Bob and I used a variety of jigs that day, from leena lures jigging spoons to buckshot jigging spoons. We also caught a few fish on demon jigs with a full minnow. We tried some waxies, but we would only get small fish, so we switched back to the jigging spoons tipped with a minnow head. With all the small perch in the lake these fish are eating well and can make fishing tough.

When I had the underwater camera down I had many fish come up and look at it, but then back away and this was happening consistently. The fish that would hit, were the ones I could see swim in and grab the bait right away.
The key our success was to move around consistently looking for those active fish. We would probably only stay at one hole for 15 minutes before moving to the next.
All in all it was a great time on the ice with Bob and hoping to do it again soon. If anyone is looking for a great guide up on Mille Lacs, Bob can be reach Here

  2. As my son said above, great show Andy and Bob So neat you guys got together with Wade as camera guy too…good shots!

  3. It was a weird deal having to meet Wade on that day! Not knowing Wade the camera guy prior to filming and to find out that morning that he had lost his father to ALS. And as Wade and I continued our conversation to find out that after his dad had passed away he had sold his fathers power recliner chairs to Tim and Denise Hukriede. As some of you might or might not know Tim ( Hooks )was my best friend that passed away from ALS just this past November 2007. It was some would call “fate” or whatever…..but for him and I to end up filming a fishing show together….having the ALS connection was really kind of special! I look forward to fishing again with Andy and Wade sometime again when the bite is better and we have some warmer weather. I might just let Wade run my boat some, as he did an excellent job running around in the Snobear that day on the ice!!!

Fishing with Andy from HuntfishTv was a sure pleasure. I thought they did a really good job putting the show together. Fishing out of the Snobear is really the ultimate fishing experience!!

    Thanks guys!

  4. Awesome show guys.

Andy, I watched the backwater pansish episode also and I’m wondering where a person can get some of those other Lil Cecil colors at? I have the ones from B Fish N, but would like some of those chartruese ones. If I’m not mistaken, last ice season, you were pounding the perch with that color out with Bret Clark.

  5. Thanks guys!! It was a great time fishing with Bob and being able to run around in the snobear, it couldn’t get any better. We definitely look forward to fishing with Bob again up on the lake. We have been very fortunate to film with some awesome guys, well except Bret and Briank,,, j/k guys.

  6. Sure i will run your boat this summer. in fact i will take care of it myself and store it fore ya all year! I was really good to meet you Bob. Loosing those close to you from a hopeless disease is tough. Bob and I know this first hand. I am sure that bob feels the same as I do, that even though our fishing partners are gone here on earth, they are always with us! It was a pleasure visiting with you bob.

buy the way, running the snowbear…the pleasure was all mine! I suggest to anyone that rides in one, be prepared to be consumed with envy. these things are so awesome!

  7. Great Report To bad I can’t watch the footage Damn filter is set to high on my work computer Why does the employer have to take away all our fun
