After watching the weather all day wondering if the rain will hold off, I finally decided to take the chance and head up to Everts to fish with Brian K. It ended up being a great night on the water with many channel catfish brought to the boat. It seemed as though a rod was constantly going off. At one time we only had one rod out, due to fish being caught on the other rods.
The bait we used for the evening was dead shad and wow do they stink, but work GREAT! Since the current was up, we were using a 3oz sinker tied to a swivel which is then tied to a circle hook. In this situation the circle hook is defiantly the key and the fish basically sets the hook on themselves, plus the hook isn’t deep in its mouth.
We were fishing as deep as 55ft and also casting some baits in the 20 foot range. The fish were coming from all depths so there wasn’t a certain depth that was better than the other. The weather did finally change around 10:30, so we decided to head in, safety first. If you have never fished with Brian you should defiantly plan a trip, you will be in for a good evening of fishing. If he asks you to kiss the catfish, don’t do it.

Way cool video Andy
Very nice video guys!
And, if he put out his hand to shake it, don’t do it
Thanks Stuart.
Yep, I fell for that one Jarrett!
Whose the poor guy who had to man the camera while all that fun is going on! BK, line twapper extraordinaire. That must have been the same night we were out Jarrett. No matter how many times I use a circle, I still make an error with setting the hook sometimes. Nice video!
mplspug,
The worst part, the camera guy had to bring up the anchor also. I felt bad about it , but Brian didnt care.
LOL, yeah that sounds like Brian.
The anchor man…er camera guy is also a nurse…and he was nursing my bad back!
If the weather wouldn’t have gone South on us, our next stop would have been a 70 foot area. ‘course I would have helped Wade.
By the way, Andy knows all about setting hooks when using circle hooks…and Bret will back me up on that.
Fishing with the two of you guys is a HOOT!
The only thing I didn’t like about the show was…that I never did get a chance to finish talking!!
I finally had the chance to watch the show and, that was a way cool show dudes
Just like Andy to draw a line in the boat , good job not letting him touch the baits Brian
Tell the truth Andy, did you swing on the first one with the circle hook
That was a cool looking Flathead, I have never seen one that light in color. Very cool to see it on the show!
Channel cats are all good fighters, dig, dig, dig, for bottom makes for fun
You could not have ended the show in any better way than to have the Cold Beverages in the background
I noticed the word “feisty” used a lot….was Wade up to no good again
Great shoot Wade …… you cute nurse you
Bret
Bret, Andy’s first “swing” was a excellent hookset!
Bass guys just don’t listen!!
you know brian and bret…i cant believe all the cuts you take on me. after all i do. people dont realize how hard it is to make you guys look good on camera! even after doing my best on the camera, it still takes hours and hours of editing to make it come together. this keeps up i will start using my regular lens on the camera instead of the beer goggles lens, and show the world what you really look like!
DON’T DO IT! The world isn’t ready for Bret with out being filtered yet!!
I’m thinking the next time we go out Wade, we’ll have Andy behind the camera…and you behind the pole.
you wont have to twist my arm. but…i too may need some serious editing to come out looking good on camera. at least i can admit it
Will I ever live down the Circle hook thing. I can’t help it, I’m a bass guy.
Wade if you weren’t behind the camera, then you wouldnt be able to bring in Brian’s anchor.
I got an idea…….automatic anchor for brians boat, great christmas gift.
Stop your whining Andy.
By the way, I think I’ve seen you catch more cats this year than bass.
Just finished watching the show, great job guys!
Looks like you had a ball out there.
