Cedar Heating Up!

I spent Sunday on the Cedar River in Steve Hix’s (akaBFD) boat. We had a great multi species day,catching walleye,northern,stripers,smalleys and cats. The first pic is of my son Sean with a 23incher that he released after a picture.

All our fish were taken on cranks,with #5 shad raps being the best producer. Trolling the outside edge of the rock bars was the ticket for the half dozen legal eyes caught this day. The next pic is Steve’s son Owen with a nice striper that fell for a jointed rap. Nice Job O !!!

The river is low, and casting to the rocks gave us plenty of small bass and rough fish. Steve really hit the pattern when he moved outside to where the rock meets the sand. Here is a picture of a great low water guide traversing a sand flat. This bite is just beginning and it should be a great fall, providing we get a little rain!!!

  1. Nice report Brian! It looks like you have been getting in to some really nice eyes down that way. What color shad rap has been doing the trick for you guys?

    I see it is nice of you to sit in the front of the boat and take snap shots making sure there is just enough weight to give BFD his work out

  2. Hi Dustin;

    Color seemed to change throughout the day. In the AM red and other crawdad colors were best, in the PM gold and the walleye color really kicked in. As was my experience 160 miles away on pool 4 the last three weeks, the afternoon bite was certainly the best. And just for the record, I was sitting in the middle of the boat where the photographer BELONGS

  3. Awesome job B….I hope this won’t be the last of your reports !!

    Look forward to more of the same !! Thanks Buddy !!
