Over the past two and a half, three weeks I have been spending a day here or there fishing on my home water of pool 10. My goal when I have been out is to put together a game plan for this weekend’s Bass World Sports tournament out of Harpers Ferry.
Last weekend my friend from home joined me for a day on the water. We started throwing topwater baits for smallmouth and largemouth bass. Here is a picture of a nice smallie. Keying on the current and locating the baitfish proved to be critical.
Tournament day came this Saturday and so did the heat. Catching fish on the main channel with a variety of plastics is how we started are day. Once the boat traffic increased on the channel my brother and I began flipping tubes on submerged wood.
The end result of an enjoyable, but very hot day on the water was 13.63 lb. and 4th place finish.
Here is a picture of another topwater fish from pre-fishing last weekend.
On another note, the pike bite on pool 10 is on right now. Fishing plastics has caught a lot of pike for me, in areas that I am also fishing for bass. Including one on Wednesday that was at least 36 inches in length!
Great job on the 4th place finish Glenn.
