Brandon Rolen Foundation Cat Trip

As the winning bidder of the Catfish trip donated to the Brandon Rolen Foundation, it was my pleasure to take out Eric Tvedt (Cougareye) and his Father Ron to my little world of catfishing. The photo here is of Eric with his personal best Flathead weighing in at 33 pounds.

As much as I to put all of my clients on big fish, Them darn cats just don’t listen to me (all the time). The first night taking out Eric and his father produced this walleye for Ron. Not exactly what we were looking for in size or color…but a fun fish non the less.

The flatheads just weren’t cooperating that night. We ended the night with a few swing and misses along with a couple cats in the under 10 lbs range. Although I think Eric and Ron enjoyed the experience, I really wanted them to “feel” the power of a good size flathead! I scheduled another trip with Eric on June 18th, but unfortunately Ron couldn’t make the second trip. Luckily Glenn (King185) was there to fill Rons seat.

Glenn was able to feel the fight of a smaller cat (photo), but we just didn’t connect with a “good one” for him.

It was nice to get to know Eric, Ron and Glenn and there’s no better place to do that than in a boat on the Mississippi. Can’t think of a better cause than a couple nights on the river for the Brandon Rolen Foundation!

  1. Thanks Brian for the very enjoyable evenings. My dad really enjoyed that trip and was truly amazed at all the sights up and down the old Miss.

Brian K. has a real first class operation, very roomy boat that is well organized, first class life jackets that zip into wind/water proof jackets, good knowledge of the river, and of course the ability to put you on great fish! If you’re looking for a new fishing experience, give Brian a call. You won’t be disappointed.

Glenn, thanks for joining me on night two, and thanks Brian for the opportunity of night #2. The 33 lber made up for hearing all your jokes for the 2nd time! Just kidding…..I’m sure Glenn and I will be back again and again.

  2. Eric, does the little flathead stink or what? Looks like you don’t want to be holding it in that photo.

  3. You stole my thunder!

I was holding him out to make him look bigger just as a previous post here suggested we all NOT do! lol…….

  4. Hey Brian… thanks for not mentioning the two swing-n-a-miss at bats I had that night . I had a great time out there – the spots you took us to were awesome. That was a side of the ol’ Miss that I never knew about and probably wouldn’t have ever seen had I not gone out that night.

Eric – thanks for asking me to join you on the outing. Sorry your Dad couldn’t get out again but then again, I’m kind of glad too!

    Glenn

  5. To Brian those walleyes are rough fish, I’m suprised he let’s them in the boat. Here kitty, kitty, kitty.

If there is anything I can do in return, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

I hope next year I will be able film the guided tours donated and be able to provide mementos for each participant.

    Thank you all very much.

    Sincerely,
