Pool 4 Mississippi River Walleye Report 4-17-07

Today I got to fish with my rod builder, Jerrie Eckholdt.

We meet at Everts at 7:00 am. The temp was 50 degrees, cloudy with a breeze out of the North east. What great conditions for a day of pitchin jigs.

Well I got my bait and took the latest hot info from Dean and headed out.

We pulled up to a sand flat and Jerrie took this fish on his second cast with a purple ring worm white tail. This fished weighed 10 even on my scale. Photo, weighed, and released. Great job Jerrie and congrates on a True ten.

We moved to our second spot, and lost two fish right away. Worked it for another thirty minutes and moved the game to hole number three, Bingo.

We boated three dandy fish on Bucktails pitched to the current seams.

Here is one Jerrie let me catch.

We were taking these fish from 6 to 16 feet of water.

Black bucktails were my favorite flavor, and Jerrie liked the Kelly Green flavor.

The fish were very agressive today, they were coming out of the water shaking there heads at us it was awesome.

Here is another we photoed and released.

We moved to another spot that we marked some 48 degree water temp.

Again Jerrie with the Kelly green first cast Bingo.

Here he is with another eight pound fish.

Jerrie, I want to thank you for a very great day on the water.

The water is still on the drop and the temp is rising.

The conditions are shaping up real nicely. The bite is just going to get better.

All said and done for us we did not do numbers today 10 fish is all but the quality more than made up for it.

I am guessing but our six best went over 40 pounds.

All fish were released.

Good luck to everyone.

Just a couple of older blind squirrels….

Weather wise it was one of my better spring outings.

it was nice not fighting gale force wind and not getting wet was fantastic…just plenty of warm sun and good story telling.

Dean thanks for the early am tips. And that is a great looking boat.

Some day when I become rich and famous I might buy another Lund

Steve it was good to see you keeping James company the other day.

Hey redneck sounds like you and Jr. did well, way to keep it up.

Every thing is going to change on a daily basis with the water dropping and warming at the same time.

    So good luck to all.

P.S. you bass guys are strange bunch….I do not know what a holy toad is???????
