Lake Menomin pan fish report

The ice fishing season is well under way in western Wisconsin. Besides the bays, many people are hitting areas close to shore on the main lake.

Met up with IDA staffer Sulley shortly after daybreak. We picked out an area in about 12 ft of water to see if we could hook up with some slabs. it not take long for Sulley to get the program dialed in. I think he had 5 in the bucket before I finally made contact. Photo #1 is Sulley hard at work.

The early morning bite provided the most action. We did catch fish throughout the day but it slowed down midday. Some nice gills and a few crappies mixed in, makes the trip well worth it. Most anglers out there were catching fish and it was good to see alot of kids out there learning to ice fish. Picture #2 is the nice limit that Jason caught. Photo #3 is a few I kept for the pan.

This is a great time to get kids out and let them have some fun through the ice. Jason, and Lenny are headed this way today so stay tuned for more pictures.

  1. Thanks for the report and pics Bud. Sounds like a blast. Hey, this coming summer you and I need to hit pool 4 together. We talk about it but it never comes together. Needs to be a priority in 2007.
    Thanks, Bill

ps. Beverly Hillbillys? I think Brian has a crush on Granny.

  2. I pulled out the blues harp but Sulley shot me a pretty mean look so I let it go.
BrianK. now why would you think of that? With the nice weather Bill, maybe we can do it before 07.
Mixed results on Sunday. Mr. Ice (Sulley) put the hurt a crappies early in the morning. if you want a good stick to join you on a ice fishing trip, give Sulley a holler

  3. Lenny came up a joined in the fun this morning. We covered alot of tournament topics thruoghout the day. Even got a few gills to bite. Guys, it was fun fishing with you this weekend. Thanks.
