Well this was Mike’s third day on the water, we were up every am at 5:00 and at Everts at between 6:00 and 6:30.
We opted to pitch jigs the first two hours every day but we never really found that bite happening for us. I think out of the three days we boated 3 fish. 18 inches the biggest. We opted to go vertical and the fish are there that’s for sure. This first pic is of Mike with a 17 incher on a paddle tail.
I have been on the water for the last seven days. Early in the week I was ripping fish on jig and minnow. With a slight drag presentation. Than I switched to dragging plastics, with the numbers still there.
As the weather stablized I continued to bring the baits up under the boat. Changed to heavier jigs and plastics.
We were hovering baits just off the bottom.
Wow would those sauger blast those baits.
All I can say is you better hold on to your rods, or they will pull them into the river.
Here is Mike with yet another the bait is down the throat.
The Barges are still running strong. But the river is still clearing up. The water color is fantastic.
The weather has been just great.
NO flow No wind = a great Bite.
Look for current seams or break lines.
The fish are just snapping baits.
Here is a shot of one of the many remaining barges headed south for the last trip this year.
Yesterday Mike and I had the pleasure of sharing our boat with a River Rat AKA (Randy Stevens).
We had a ball, we made many more fishing memories.
This next photo is of our days catch.
Mike and I came home and I cleaned and baked our limit and he ate all fricken five fish and I had one. Man that boy can eat fish.
Randy Thanks for a great afternoon. We enjoyed the company.
Here is a photo of the livewell after our second pass, with the vertical bite on fire.
Here is Mike with another sauger. On Friday we ran four lines all day and used Pro Blue Super Doos, Pro Blue ringworms and Pro Blue Paddletails. All our fish friday came on Pro Blue…
Saturday we added Chartruse pepper to the game plan.
Here is the River Rat with another piece of Gold.
Greg, you and Mike have had one heck of a week
